What Data Is Processed?
Apart from advertising and, on Android, the analytics and diagnostics described below, HandyTools does not collect or transmit personal data. Your settings and anything you create in the tools stay on your device.
The app integrates Google AdMob to display advertising. Depending on your consent, AdMob may process the following data:
- Advertising ID (GAID on Android, IDFA on iOS) and device identifiers
- Device information (model, OS version, language)
- Approximate location (based on IP address)
- Usage data and interactions with ads
Camera and Microphone
Two tools ask for a device permission the first time you use them: the Color Picker uses the camera to read colours from the live preview, and the Sound Meter uses the microphone to measure the ambient sound level. All processing happens on your device in real time β no photo, video, or audio recording is created, saved, transmitted, or shared. You can deny or later revoke either permission in your device settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.
Analytics and Diagnostics (Firebase, Android only)
On Android, the app uses two Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Analytics: aggregated, non-identifying usage events (for example which tool is opened) that show us which features matter most.
- Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports and technical diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack trace, and the app state just before a crash) so we can fix stability problems. Google retains this data for up to 90 days.
Google LLC processes this data on our behalf. It is not used to build an advertising profile and is not linked to your identity.
Consent and Consent Management (UMP SDK)
When you first launch the app, a consent dialog appears provided by the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK. There you can choose whether personalised or only non-personalised ads are shown.
- Personalised ads: AdMob processes the data listed above to build a profile and serve interest-based ads. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
- Non-personalised ads (opt-out): If you decline, only context-based ads are shown. Even then, technically necessary data (e.g. IP address) may be processed for fraud prevention.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time in the app settings under Privacy Options. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
On iOS, HandyTools requests permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before any cross-app/cross-website tracking-related data is used, in addition to the consent choices you make in the Google-provided consent dialog described above. You can change your ATT choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
Data Transfer to Google
Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) is an independent controller for AdMob data and, on Android, a processor for the Firebase data above. Transfers to the USA are based on standard contractual clauses and the EUβUS Data Privacy Framework. For more information please see Google's Privacy Policy.
In-App Purchases
HandyTools offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock additional features. This purchase is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on your device. We do not receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment information β that data is handled solely by Apple/Google under their own privacy policies and terms.
Children's Privacy
HandyTools is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under these ages. Our advertising partner (Google AdMob) is configured to treat all ad requests from this app as not child-directed and not subject to the EU's under-age-of-consent restrictions, consistent with our intended general audience. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at developers@kodmee-studio.com so we can delete it.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- Access to your stored data (Art. 15)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16)
- Erasure (Art. 17)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18)
- Data portability (Art. 20)
- Objection to processing (Art. 21)
- Withdrawal of consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 para. 3)
To exercise your rights please contact us at the e-mail address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority β the competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
